Are you a NAAAP-New York member and want to become more involved in a leadership capacity and make a difference in the community? Do you want to build and exercise your skills for a leading Asian professionals membership organization that organizes professional development and community events?

If your answer is ˜Yes!” to either question, then consider becoming a NAAAP-New York Board Member. As a Board Member, you will work closely with the Officers and other board members to help set NAAAP-New York policies and direction, identify strategic areas for growth, and steer the organization in continuing to carry out the goals embodied in its mission statement.

We are looking for candidates who strongly connect to NAAAP-New York’s mission of promoting workplace diversity and professional development among Asian professionals. Drive and dedication to contribute to NAAAP-New York is a must.

This volunteer position is open to NAAAP-New York members in good standing. It is preferred, but not required, that members have at least one year membership status. This is a two-year term position. Attendance to at least 75% of the Board meetings held within a calendar year is expected. Twelve meetings, once a month, are held at midtown New York locations. Also, attendance to represent NAAAP-New York at our major events is expected.

Officer positions such as President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary are also available. These positions are one year terms and they will be voted in by the board in January.

Please submit your resume (including your name and contact information) along with a 250-word (or less) essay reflecting your background, experience, and interest in NAAAP-New York as a Board Member and/or specific officer. Describe your prior board/officer experience and NAAAP-New York involvement if applicable. Please send your information to tom@NAAAPNY.org.

Deadline for submission is close of business on November 29, 2008. Please note that your bio may be published on the Website. Ballots will be mailed / emailed out to the membership shortly thereafter. Voting results for directors will be announced after December 12, 2008.
